North Attleborough’s 2018 Great American Clean Up

What a difference a day makes! North Attleboro looks revitalized after undergoing a thorough spring cleaning on Saturday, May 5.

Many thanks go to the 600+ volunteers of all ages who turned out on a beautiful day to clean up the accumulated litter and debris from parks, sidewalks, and streets. Amazingly, almost a ton of heavy items was brought to the recycling center.

Three televisions, a propane tank, a grill and 12 tires are a few of the illegally dumped items brought to the center. Also, hundreds of bags of trash were collected.

Waste Management provided a truck, driver, and laborer to collect the stockpiled filled bags at designated drop off points around town. They have provided this service at no cost for the past annual cleanups.

Unfortunately, a few pieces of litter deposited by thoughtless individuals such as candy wrappers, scratch tickets, nip and beverage bottles are beginning to reappear. We must continue to maintain the cleanliness of our town. To that end, Keep North Attleboro Beautiful is excited to announce “Litter Busters.” Local individuals, families and businesses select an area to monitor and keep litter-free all year long as needed. Bags, gloves and grabbers are provided. Please consider signing up for this new and important program or contact Litter Busters coordinator Paul Rota at Let’s all join forces to keep our town looking beautiful!
